CHECK’s will hold its 2005 biennial meeting in Great Bend on Friday evening on August 5, 2005, starting at 7:00 p.m. This date is the evening before CHECK’s conference, Homeschooling 101 & 301, to be held at the same location on the next day, August 6. Both meetings will be held at the Grace Community Church, 210 McKinley, Great Bend, Kansas.
Friday evening’s meeting of support group leaders will be full, including a time to get to know one another and to encourage and equip you as support group leaders. In addition, as required by CHECK’s by-laws this meeting will include the election of officers for the coming two years. We have a number of openings in our regional representative positions who serve as a link between CHECK and our local support groups. If you would be willing to assist CHECK in this role of supporting and encouraging other support group leaders, we would be interested in hearing prior to the meeting.
For those of you wishing to stay the night on Friday, a block of rooms has been reserved at the Highland Hotel, 3017 10th Street, in Great Bend. The hotel was formerly the Holiday Inn and includes a convention center, restaurant and fun dome (indoor pool, sauna, game room, putting course, etc.). Reservations can be made by calling toll-free at 866-212-7122. To receive the $59 group rate for Friday, August 5, 2005, attendees need to ask for the “CHECK” block of rooms. Reservations need to be made by July 30th. After that date, rooms not already spoken for will be released from the block. The $59 rate is good for king or two double bedded rooms with 1-4 person occupancy.
